Preparation of oligo galacturonic acids by enzymatic hydrolysis

, : Preparation of oligo galacturonic acids by enzymatic hydrolysis. Biologia (Bratislava) 38(4): 335-342

Oligogalacturonic acids were prepared using the catalytic activity of endo-D-galacturonanases from the commercial pectolytic enzyme preparations Igrazym M-10, Pektofoetidin and Pectinase, the preparations being applied directly without previous purification. In order to obtain good yields of the broadest possible spectrum of oligogalacturonic acids, the properties of individual endo-D-galacturonanases present in commercially available preparations were studied. Their specific activities were determined and optimal conditions for their activity were studied. Endo-D-galacturonanase from Igrazym M-10 is most suitable for the preparation of mono-, di and trigalacturonic acid, endo-D-galacturonanase from Pektofoetidin is best for the preparation of mono- to pentagalacturonic acid and endo-D-galacturonanase from Pectinase is good for the preparation of mono- to heptagalacturonic acids.
