Preparation of rna from yeast by live steam extraction

, : Preparation of rna from yeast by live steam extraction. Prikladnaya Biokhimiya i Mikrobiologiya 12(3): 403-406

Possible production of RNA from fodder yeast [Candida tropicalis] by direct steam extraction was investigated. RNA can be readily extracted if the extraction medium is supplemented with 0.02 kg steam/l suspension per min. Under these conditions the yield of 80% RNA is 2.5-3% the dry weight of yeast. The yeast extract is biologically valuable during the cultivation of Escherichia coli.
