Preparation of table salt free from potassium ions to control hyper kalemia

, : Preparation of table salt free from potassium ions to control hyper kalemia. Pakistan Journal of Scientific Research 32(1-2): 38-43

Sodium chloride free from K ions was prepared to avoid hyperkalemia in humans. Inorganic and organic ion exchangers were tried for separation of closely related alkali metal ions, i.e., Na+ and K+, but successful separation of these ions was done with sulfonic acid cation exchanger of polystyrene (Zeo-Karb 225) in HCl-H2O-CH3OH system.
