Productivity of the freshwater crayfish orconectes limosus synonym cambarus affinis in koronowo basin poland

It was established that the main setting site of the crayfish population O. limosus in Koronowo Basin are the bottom areas overgrown with submergent macrophytes. The remaining, and the greater part of this over 1600 ha reservoir is evenly, though rarely, populated by an excess of old specimens of the population, mainly males. The biomass and production of the crayfish during two years of studies indicate that among the hydrobionts of the reservoir this crayfish takes up one of the leading places. This work also suggests a possibility of exploitation of this crustacean at a larger scale than presently carried out.
