The biomass of mycelia determined as hyphal length with agar film method in the biogeocenosis studied was as high as a few milligrams or tenths of milligrams per gram of forest litter or soil [Valdai Hills, USSR]. That equals 100 kg/ha in the solum. The content of fungal mycelia is much higher in forest litter than in the mineral soil. The amount of dark pigment added to the soil with the mycelia is as high as .01 mg/g of soil.
