Prospective randomized comparison of urologic complications in end to side vs. politano leadbetter uretero neo cystostomy in 131 human cadaver renal transplants

Journal of Urology 128(6): 1170-1172

Prospective randomized comparison of urologic complications in end to side vs. politano leadbetter uretero neo cystostomy in 131 human cadaver renal transplants

The incidence of urologic complications was studied in 131 patients with cadaver renal allografts allocated randomly to undergo either the Politano-Leadbetter or end-to-side ureteroneocystostomy. Obstruction occurred in 6% of the patients with end-to-side vs. 0% of those with Politano-Leadbetter reconstructions (P < 0.05). Complications of leakage, infection and graft loss were comparable in the 2 groups.

In contrast to that it is not yet clear which approach should be used in unilateral VUR. This prospective, rand...
