Abstract
Highly specific antisera were obtained from rabbits immunized with a purified preparation of bovine placental somatomammotropin leading to the development of a sensitive radioimmunoassay. The values in cotyledon extracts and fetal serum given by this method are in agreement with those determined by radioreceptor assay using rabbit liver and mammary gland membranous receptors. Placental somatomammotropic hormone is always present in pregnant cow sera from day 110 after fertilization but at low concentration (.ltoreq. 2 ng/ml).
