Radio isotope resorption through injured skin

Radio isotope resorption through injured skin

Gigiena i Sanitariia (8): 48-54

Resorption of the isotopes of Sr, Ce, Po and Am through skin-muscule and stab wounds and skin abrasions was investigated in experiments on albino rats. The extent of resorption of the isotope depended on its physical and chemical properties and the type of injuries. Isotope penetration through skin abrasions was high and exceeded by 40-100 times the extent of penetration through intact skin.
