Raising method of health and aged seedling for mechanical rice transplanting in double cropping southern area
To understand about the reasonable method of seedling raising that possible enhancement in healthiness and aged seedling suitable for mechanical rice transplanting in double cropping southern area a series field experiments conducted at the Honam Crop Experiment Station and Chungnam Provincial Rural Development Administration [Korea] in 1981 and 1985. In general, 35-day old seedling of Japonica-type rice cultivar brought about longer than 20cm in seedling height at the 4g of nitrogen application per seedling box which considered mechanical rice as over growth for transplanting. Slightly more aged seedlings were raised at the plots that received fertilizer by 50% for basal and another 50% as equal top dressing at 2 and 3 leaf stage. And also, seedling age positively was affected by raising duration and negatively affected by seedling rate. The healthiness of seedling also exhibited similar response to seedling age. The degree of missing hill during transplanting operation was higher at 35 days raising than at 25 days raising and at low seedling rate than high seedling rate, respectively.
