Recent advances in life history studies of the phaeophyta

, : Recent advances in life history studies of the phaeophyta. Phycologia 15(3-4): 435-452

Various taxonomic treatments of the brown algae are discussed. A more enlightened concept of the evolution of life history in the brown algae lies in further unravelling the life histories of the Myrionemataceae which connect the Ectocarpales to the more highly developed forms. The influence of environmental conditions such as temperature, photoperiod and light quality on reproduction and morphological phases is also important in life history studies.
