Records of a meso pelagic penaeid shrimp gennadas capensis new record from the western north pacific and the eastern indian oceans
A meso-pelagic penaeid shrimp, G. capensis Calman, was originally reported off the Cape of Good Hope (Calman, 1925), and has since been abundantly collected from the Bahamas in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico in the Atlantic Ocean. It has not been reported in the Indo-Pacific region except from the Kermadec Islands and Hawaiian waters. Occurrence records of this specie in Suruga Bay, east coast of Central Japan are reported: about 34.degree. N south of Suruga Bay, about 10.degree. N in the western Pacific, and about 14.degree.-20.degree. S in the eastern Indian Ocean. The species distribution probably extendes from the Atlantic to the central Pacific Ocean through the southern Indian Ocean.
