Regulation of glutamine synthetase ec 6.3.1.2 by regulatory protein p i i in klebsiella aerogenes mutants lacking adenylyl transferase

, : Regulation of glutamine synthetase ec 6.3.1.2 by regulatory protein p i i in klebsiella aerogenes mutants lacking adenylyl transferase. Journal of Bacteriology 146(2): 740-745

A mutation in K. aerogenes causing production of an altered PII regulatory protein which stimulates overadenylylation of glutamine synthetase [EC 6.3.1.2] and also prevents its derepression was combined with mutations abolishing the activity of adenylyltransferase. PII apparently plays a role in the regulation of the level of glutamine synthetase which is independent of its interaction with adenylyltransferase.
