Regulation of in vivo nitrate reductase activity in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) leaves in light and dark and the possible role of cytokinin
Kinetin and 6-benzyl adenine induced nitrate reductase activity in cotton leaves in dark. The effect of hormone was independent of the presence of nitrate. Source of NADH required for nitrate reduction may arise from glycolysis in dark and from mitochondria in light. Hormone seems to regulate the cytoplasmic pool of NADH by regulating the glycolytic pathway.
