Reinterpretation of the alimentary structures of the red pumpkin bug coridius janus heteroptera dinidoridae with reference to phylogeny

Reinterpretation of the alimentary structures of the red pumpkin bug coridius janus heteroptera dinidoridae with reference to phylogeny

Pakistan Journal of Zoology 6(1-2): 175-188

The functional morphology and gross histology of the alimentary organs including the salivary glands of the red pumpkin bug Coridius janus were studied to resolve controversies regarding these structures in the recent literature. In light of the present reinterpretations of some of the characters, the systematic position of the family Dinidoridae within the superfamily Pentatomoidea is briefly discussed.
