Relationships in time of bio electric activity of the occipital areas of the brain during changes of the functional state of the visual analyzer

Two groups of children aged 4-8 (Group I- practically healthy children with normal visual functions, Group II- children with convergent concomitant monolateral aquint in combination with dysbinocular amblyopia) were given EEG tests to determine the relationships in time of bioelectric activity of the occipital areas of the brain during eye opening exercises. The relationships of the total bioelectric activity of the occipital areas in healthy children observed during eye opening to conditions of visual fixation and visual perception of an object, underwent substantial transformations in comparison with background relationships. This occurred by enhancement of synchronization (reduction of the dispersion of time shifts) and by the appearance of a synphasic nature of the activity. Opening the healthy eye by children with dysbinocular amblyopia led to rearrangements, while opening the amblyopic eye as a rule did not lead to substantial rearrangements of time relationships. The nature of time relationships of bioelectric activity in healthy children during eye opening in conditions excluding the possibility of visual fixation and visual perception of an object remained unchanged in comparison with background relationships. Changes of time relationships of bioelectric activity of the occipital areas during opening of the eyes were determined by the state of the monocular visual function.
