Relationships of cholinergic and antigen binding receptors of human lymphocytes studied in the test of direct binding with tritiated quinuclidinylbenzilate

The authors studied the influence of the timothy (Phleum) pollen allergen on 3H-quinuclidinyl benzyl acetate (3H-QNB) binding by lymphocytic choline-receptors of pollinosis patients and normal subjects. It was shown that 100 .mu.g/ml atropine similarly inhibited 3H-QNB binding both with normal human lymphocytes and with mononuclear cells of pollinosis patients. Dialized water-soluble extract of timothy pollen, in a concentration of 1000 .mu.g/ml, on the contrary, produced manifest statistically significant suppression of 3H-QNB specific binding by lymphocytes of pollinosis patients, and did not affect the cells of normal humans. The data obtained have evidenced a close localization of choline-receptors and antigen (allergen)-binding structures on the lymphocyte surface of allergic patients.
