Relative use of uni variate and multi variate analysis of variance in developmental psychology

Relative use of uni variate and multi variate analysis of variance in developmental psychology

Psychological Reports 49(3): 779-782

Articles from Volume 16 of Developmental Psychology were reviewed with respect to the number of studies that employed multiple dependent measures within the analysis of variance framework. These results were compared to similar reviews done in counseling and experimental human psychology. Due to the large proportion (50-60%) of studies using analysis of variance designs with multiple dependent measures in developmental, counseling and experimental psychology research, and the relatively infrequent use of multivariate analysis of variance, more frequent use was recommended to control experiment-wise error while enhancing statistical power.
