Reproduction and abundance of the sand eel ammodytes marinus in the white sea

Reproduction and abundance of the sand eel ammodytes marinus in the white sea

Voprosy Ikhtiologii 18(4): 642-649

Data are presented on the quantitative distribution of larvae of the sand eel A. marinus in the White Sea (Russian SFSR, USSR), in comparing depth, temperature and salinity. According to the accumulation of prelarvae and early larval stages, possible areas of spawning were established. The sand eel belongs to the number of fish species which could play a definite role in the formation of White Sea productivity as a supplementary object of fish removals and as a component in the diet and population dynamics of basic commercial fish.
