Reproduction in anolis oculatus ameiva fuscata and mabuya mabouya from dominica

Copeia (2): 249-256

Male and female A. oculatus and A. fuscata appear to be reproductively active throughout the year. Of A. oculatus males, 1/2 are mature at about 37 mm snout-vent length (SVL); 1/2 of the females are mature at 43 mm SVL. Female A. oculatus have alternate unilateral ovulation and lay 1 egg. Of A. fuscata males, 1/2 are mature at 95 mm SVL; females at 111 mm SVL. Female A. fuscata lay about 4 eggs/clutch, the number of eggs tending to increase with increasing SVL. Female M. mabouya, a viviparous scincid, give birth to a mean of 3 young/brood.
