Reproduction in the striped racer masticophis lateralis colubridae

Reproduction in the striped racer masticophis lateralis colubridae

Journal of Herpetology 9(4): 361-363

Observations were made from 17 M. lateralis collected in Los Angeles County, California. The testicular cycle was similar to that of other colubrids in consisting of an autumn spermiogenesis with sperm stored overwinter in the epididymides and vas deferens. Other seasonal variations in both males and females were discussed.
