Reproduction of clone apple stocks by tissue culture method

Sel'skokhozyaistvennaya Biologiya 17(4): 455-457

The terminal parts of 1 yr old shoots of 'Paradizka Krasnolistnaya', 'Budagovsky 57-490' form, A-2, M-26 and M-27 apple clone stocks were surface sterilized and cultivated on a nutrient media, taht contained 6-benzylaminopurine. This substance stimulated the formation and germination of supplementary buds, that developed into shoots. By the repeated recultivation on this medium it is possible to obtain thousands of shoots from a single explant in a year. Effective rooting of shoots was obtained on the medium without growth regulators after treatment of the shoot basal parts with a sterile dilution of the IBA at a concentration of 50 mg/l. Low temperature exposure before planting in unsterile conditions promoted further development.
