Optimum reproductive periods in the Ukrainian SSR, USSR were established as May-June, and a nearly complete break in reproductive activity occurred in July due to hot and dry weather. Minimum body weight capable of reproducing was 10.7 g for females and 15.3 g for males (at relative testicle weight of 7.7%). Season related size of the brood was for spring 4.0 .+-. 0.38 embryos/pregnant female, for summer 5.5 .+-. 0.11 and for autumn 4.8 .+-. 0.50.
