Residual effectiveness of post emergence band applications of insecticides against the southern corn billbug sphenophorus callosus on corn

Residual effectiveness of post emergence band applications of insecticides against the southern corn billbug sphenophorus callosus on corn

Journal of the Georgia Entomological Society 16(4): 531-535

Selected rates and formulations of chlorpyrifos, terbufos and carbofuran were evaluated for residual efficacy against the southern corn billbug, S. callosus (Olivier). Billbugs were introduced into treated plots immediately, 5, 10, 21 and 23 days after treatment. All treatments were effective initially. Residual activity was greatest for chlorpyrifos 15G (1.12, 1.68 and 2.24 kg AI[active ingredient]/ha), and least for those rates of carbofuran 4F.
