Residues of chlorinated hydro carbons in fish meal meat and bone meal feeds and broiler chicken meat

Residues of chlorinated hydro carbons in fish meal meat and bone meal feeds and broiler chicken meat

Roczniki Panstwowego Zakladu Higieny 31(4): 383-387

The levels of BHC, .SIGMA.DDT and PCB [polychlorinated biphenyl] in fish meal, meat and bone meal, feeds and chicken meat produced or available on the Polish market in 1975-1977 were studied. Levels in fish meals of marine production averaged 0.005-0.015, 0.22-0.44 and 0.043-0.25 ppm, respectively, for BHC, .SIGMA.DDT and PCB. For fish meals of Polish production values were: 0.009-0.012, 0.21-0.35 and 0.13-0.22 ppm and imported meal values were 0.004, 0.049-0.052 and 0.051-0.17 ppm, respectively. The average amounts of .SIGMA.DDT and PCB in meat and bone meals were 0.074 and trace amounts, and in feeds averaged 0.025-0.17 .SIGMA.DDT and 0.001-0.009 ppm PCB. Only trace amounts of PCB and 0.009 ppm .SIGMA.DDT were found in chicken meat.
