Residues of organochlorine pesticides in adipose tissue of wild boars roe deer stags and elk

Investigations were carried out to determine the residue levels of hexachlorobenzene (HCB), benzenehexachloride (alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-BHC), and DDT and analogues in adipose fat of hunted animals collected during 1980-1983 in northern region of Poland. A total of 206 samples of wild boars, 16 samples of roe deer, 26 samples of stags, and 1 sample of elk adipose fat were analysed. In adipose fat of wild boars, roe deer, stags, and elk the following average residue values were found: HCB - 9.3, 9.1, 8.4, and 1.1 .mu.g/kg: .SIGMA.MBHC - 21, 42, 28, and 17 .mu.g/kg; .SIGMA.DDT - 230, 57, 45, and 7.1 .mu.g/kg, respectively.
