Abstract
The use of susceptible slash pine [Pinus elliottii] families for rootstock causes a significant increase in fusiform rust [Cronartium fusiforme] incidence in resistant scion material of slash pine and could result in costly losses of superior genetic material from advanced generation seed orchards due to stem breakage and roguing of heavily infected trees.
