Scanning electron microscopy of cercarial tegumental surface of 4 species of dicrocoelium from qing hai plateau china

The cercarial tegumental surface of 4 spp. of Dicrocoelium were studied by scanning electron microscope. The mature cercariae were collected from positive land snails, Helicella candacharia and Cathaica przewalskii, in various endemic areas on Qing-hai Plateau. The species of cercarial specimens studied include: cercariae of D. chinensis collected from H. candacharia in Luo-du County; cercariae of D. lanceatum collected from C. przewalskii in Min-he County; B type dicrocoelid cercariae collected from H. candacharia in D. lanceatum platynosomum endemic area in Luo-du County; and D type dicrocoelid cercariae collected from H. candacharia in Gui-de County where the morphology of Dicrocoelium sp. from sheep had been found to be different from D. lanceatum. Variations in the pattern on tegumental surface view were observed.
