Screening of maize germplasm for resistance to banded leaf blight and sheath blight

Screening of maize germplasm for resistance to banded leaf blight and sheath blight

Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences 54(12): 1019-1022

of teh 141 germplasm entries of maize (Zea mays Linn.) tested under artifical field conditions with banded leaf- and sheath-blight caused by Rhizoctonia solani Kuehn f.sp. sasakii Exner, 35 were resistant, 87 intermediate, and 19 susceptible. The resistant entries included 11 inbreds, 8 single crosses, 10 double and double top-crosses and 6 composites. Resistant inbreds 'CM 103', 'CM 104', 'Cm 105', 'CM 300', 'CM 600' and 'PI 217407' and composite 'Vikram' had resistance to other diseases also.
