Seasonal and yearly dynamics of fall in a hornbeam carpinus betulus forest of the kanev reserve ukrainian ssr ussr

Seasonal and yearly dynamics of fall in a hornbeam carpinus betulus forest of the kanev reserve ukrainian ssr ussr

Lesovedenie (3): 90-94

Hornbeam (C. betulus L.) forests of the Middle Dnieper basin comes from hornbean-oak forests as a result of long-term human influence for a long time. These forests have supplanted oak trees. They interact actively with the environment drawing a considerable part of their reserves into the biological cycle and releasing them with leaf fall. The total mass of the annual fall in the hornbeam forests is identical with that of oak and hornbeam-oak forests.
