Observations on Atriplex griffthii Moq., indicated twenty one per cent soluble proteins on dry matter basis and greater concentration of free amino acids in leaves than in stem or roots. In addition to proline concentrations of some amino acids, viz., alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, glutamine, glycine, phenylalanine and serine in vegetative parts were greater than that of isoleucine, leucine, methionine, threonine and valine. Seasonal fluctuations indicatd a progressive increase in the concentrations of fourteen amino acids including proline in leaves and to lesser extent in stem and roots in summer through winter.
