Selecting anesthesia for obstetric surgery

Selecting anesthesia for obstetric surgery

Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis Facultatis Medicae 116: 401-406

Drawing on their five-year experience with anaesthesia in the obstetrical operations in the 2nd and 3rd delivery periods the authors summarize the theoretical conditions of performing anaesthesia, the requirements of the surgeon and factors influencing the choice of the anaesthesia respecting the mother and fetus. The possible complications are discussed including hemorrhage with the origin of hemocagulation disorders, shock due to uteral inversion and danger of aspiration into the tracheobronchial stem, and their prevention and therapy.
