Selection of a criterion for the determination of the initial formation of a forest cenosis
A study was made of the growth and structure of tree crowns in experimental plantings of Pinus sylvestris and Picea abies of various initial density (from 0.8 to 200 thousand trees/ha). During the formation of forest cenosis, all morphological indices of trees were found to change. The total linear increment of tree branches is proposed as the best criterion for the determination of the initial formation of forest cenoses.
