The selectivity of nylon gill nets on P. squamosissimus (Heckel, 1840) in Pereira de Miranda reservoir during the period 1967-1970 was studied. A determination of the selectivity curve and relationship between mesh sizes and total lengths, for the fish samples, were based on 32 random samples from each group of data for gill nets with meshes of 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.5 cm (bar measurement). Methodology employed was that of Baranov and of Holt. [The allowable mesh size should be reduced from 4.5 to 3.5 cm in waters where pescada are primarily taken.].
