Sexual differences of ecological physiological indices in the vole microtus socialis

Sexual differences of ecological physiological indices in the vole microtus socialis

Vestnik Zoologii (5): 78-81

Sex-related differences in O2 consumption, Hb concentration and erythrocyte number in the blood of mature M. socialis from virgin steppes and winter wheat fields in southern Ukrainian SSR (USSR) were studied year-round during periods of active breeding. Significant differences in hematological chracteristics and the rate of gas exchange were found in breeding females, but no difference was found between males and sterile females during the winter and spring.
