Species of the genus celtis ulmaceae in the argentine flora

Species of the genus celtis ulmaceae in the argentine flora

Darwiniana (San Isidro) 21(2-4): 541-578

Seven entities of Celtis are recognized for Argentina: C. tala Gill. ex Planch., C. iguanaea (Jacq.) Sarg., C. spinosa Spreng., C. pubescens (HBK) Spreng., C. chichape (Wedd.) Miq. C. pallida Torrey ssp. Pallida ad C. pallida Torrey ssp. sericea stat. nov. [C. sericea Romanczuk] which are described, illustrated and the geographic distribution shown on a map. The pattern of flavonoids of these species was studied and the result suggest that some species were well defined, like: C. tala and C. pallida, while others, like C. iguanaea, C. spinosa, C. pubescens and C. chichape, constitute a group of closely related taxa.
