Specifics of sodium ion exchange in the early ontogeny of the atlantic salmon salmo salar

Data were presented on the dynamics of Na ion content and exchange during Atlantic salmon embryonic development. Na content and exchange rate depend on the embryo development stage. They increase with the beginning of erythrocyte circulation. The kinetics of radioactive Na yield make it possible to assume that eggs contain 2 fractions of Na+, which differ in the rate of exchange with the environment. By the time of embryo emergence Na content with slow exchange is several times higher. These changes correlate with an increase in protein content in the embryo. At the same time the exchange rate of this fraction decreases. When water salinity increased to 2 or 10%, and also water pH was 4.0-4.5, the portion slow exchanged Na decreased and its yield from eggs was faster.
