Specifics of soil strains of budding bacteria of the genus hyphomicrobium

Of 13 strains of Hyphomicrobium isolated from different soils, 10 can be related to H. vulgare. They use methanol, methylamine and acetate. Strain G10 does not use methylamine and strains G11-G13 do not use methanol; the systematic position of these strains is obscure. All strains examined do not grow on meat broth, blood or serum media. The G + C content in the DNA these strains varies from 56.6-70.0 mol%. All strains contain common antigens but differ in antigenic structure.
