Specifics of the hormonal status of patients with exogenous constitutional obesity before and after administration of nalorphine

, : Specifics of the hormonal status of patients with exogenous constitutional obesity before and after administration of nalorphine. Meditsinskaya Radiologiya 29(11): 40-44

The endocrine effects of nalorphine were studied in patients with exogenous constitutional obesity. Nalorphine stimulated ACTH and cortisol synthesis and inhibited .beta.-endorphin and prolactin synthesis. Nalorphine stimulated the secretion of somatotropic hormone, which was similar to the effect of analogs of natural enkephalins. Repeated administration of nalorphine made it possible to detect some features of the endocrine system connected with the pathogenesis of obesity. Nalorphine did not have any side effects. Nalorphine may be used as a pharmacological test for detecting latent changes in the endocrine system in patients with exogenous constitutional obesity.
