Spectrofluorometric assay of aluminum in pharmaceutical formulations by means of the morin reagent

A simple and sensitive spectrofluorimetric method is proposed for the determination of Al microquantities in pharmaceutical dosage forms using the Morin reagent. The effects of pH, reagnet concentration, temperature and reaction time with respect to fluorescence intensity and complex stability were studied. Linearity of emission intensity versus Al concentration was observed over the range 5.7-22.9 .mu.g/l. The proposed fluorimetric method permits the rapid quality control of commercial formulations (tablets). Recovery studies confirmed the good accuracy and the remarkable precision of the method.
