Spectrophotometric determination of aluminum at parts per billion level in water
A simple spectrophotometric method using 8-quinolinol as reagent for the extraction of Al was described. Fe, Cu, Zn and Mg, which interfered in the 8-quinolinol method, were pre-extracted with 2-isopropyl-8-quinolinol. The method gave better reproducible results than those obtained from direct atomic absorption spectrophotometry using electrothermal atomization for certain water samples.
