The relative content of TMV [tobacco mosaic virus] in tobacco and its reproduction curve were determined by the spectrophotometric method according to Taniguchi. This method was extended to other viruses (PVY [potato virus Y] and CMV [cucumber mosaic virus]) in tobacco. Porter's modified spectrophotometric method was used for CMV-infected cucumber.
