A spectrophotometric method for assaying 2-keto-L-gulonic acid based on measurements of the intensity of light absorption at .lambda. [wavelength] = 348 nm by the product of the acid reaction with orthophenyl diamine dissolved in acetic acid was described. The method can be used to determine 2-keto-L-gulonic acid in the culture [Pseudomonas] liquid and crystalline preparations. The relative error of measurements of 2-keto-L-gulonic acid is .+-. 2.38%.
