Spectrum and voice range analysis of 160 male and female cases aged from 55 to 74

, : Spectrum and voice range analysis of 160 male and female cases aged from 55 to 74. Journal of China Medical University 16(1): 66-69

A total of 160 healthy subjects (80 men and 80 women) participated in this study. Their ages ranged from 55 to 74. Voice samples were recorded and analyzed using Danish B and K 7006 portable instrumentation recorder and B and K 2031 narrow band spectrum analyzer. The results showed that: 1. Fundamental frequency (F0): Results of the analysis of variance test showed that mean F0 differed significantly between the II and III group (p < 0.01) in men. There was, however, no significant difference among the four groups in women. 2. Voice range: We found that the nature voice of males decreased with increasing age while the falsetto voice range increased. The natural voice and falsetto voice range of females decreased with increasing age.
