Abstract
3-Phosphoglycerate kinase was present preferentially in the proplastid of in vitro cultured tobacco cells and controlled by the energy charge of adenylate. ATP required for the glutamate synthesis in the proplastid can be generated by this enzyme at the expense of triosephosphate supplied from the cell matrix.
