Studies on the tissue culture of swertia japonica iii. glycosylation of naringenin in cultured cells
Studies were conducted on the glycosylation of naringenin in Swertia japonica cultured cells in a medium containing a sugar selected from sucrose, D-glucose, D-galactose, D-fructose, D-xylose and L-rhamnose. Two glycosylation products were isolated equally from the cells cultured with any of those sugars, and were identified as naringenin 7-O-.beta.-D-glucoside and naringenin 7-O-.beta.-gentiobioside. The time course changes in the glycoside production by the cells cultured in sucrose- and L-rhamnose-containing media were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography.
