Long-term experiments have shown that P utilization is substantially determined by the yield level. When P was applied at the rate of 20-25 kg .cntdot. ha-1 .cntdot. a-1, its utilization was not significantly different in organic vs. mineral fertilization. P removal from soil and fertilizers with the harvest amounted to 70-75% of the amount applied. The utilization of fertilizer P according to the difference method (total utilization in the fertilized variation vs. its removal in the unfertilized variant) varied between 30 and 35%. The utilization decreased sharply with larger applications. Organic fertilization incuded a greater (up to twice as high) change in the content of lactate-soluble P in soil than mineral fertilization. This is important for the improvement of soils with low P content.
