Studies on the vegetation of the amazonian campinas brazil part 2 general observations and bibliographical review of the amazonian campinas of white sandy soils
A literature survey was made of the vegetation characteristic of white sand soils, or regosols, in N Amazonia [Brazil]. In the past there has been much confusion concerning the definitions applied to this vegetation. This vegetation is defined as consisting of 4 distinct types: Campina of the Upper Rio Negro (formerly often called Caatinga), Campinarana of the Upper Rio Negro, Campina proper and Campinarana. A glossary defining these types of vegetation is also provided.
