The varieties of diploid and tetraploid winter rye differ in clustering of the characters within the general system of correlations. Some of the forms reveal only 1 group of interrelated characters (the 1st factor) which demonstrate the highest correlation with the plant and ear productivity. In other varieties and forms the characters of grain weight per plant and per ear apparently are also correlated with the relative plant productivity (the 2nd factor). At the tetraploid level the relation of the group of the 2nd factor characters to the plant productivity, especially in low-yield forms, is closer than in diploid analogs.
