Study of urinary trypsin inhibitor ii. clinical evaluation of urinary trypsin inhibitor in various urological patients

Study of urinary trypsin inhibitor ii. clinical evaluation of urinary trypsin inhibitor in various urological patients

Medical Journal of Hiroshima University 34(6): 857-864

Urinary trypsin inhibitor (UTI) was measured by using radioimmunoassay (RIA) in healthy men and the patients with some urological diseases. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1) The average of UTI excretion is 6.0 .+-. 3.3 (mean .+-. SD) mg/day in the 54 healthy adults and the value significantly elevated in the male (p < 0.001). The UTI excretion was not in correlation with age distribution. 2) The UTI excretion per day increased significantly in the patients with hemodialysis, with chronic renal failure and with acute pyelonephritis (p < 0.01). However, the value was changed insignificantly in the patients with urinary neoplasm, with BPH and with urolithiasis. 3) In the high stage-urinary neoplasma, the UTI excretion was significantly increased compared with control group (p < 0.05). 4) In acute pyelonephritis, the UTI excretion was decreased to normal value after treatment. 5) In BPH, the group of the advanced or moderate renal damage was higher level of UTI excretion than the group of normal or mild renal damage. 6) From the above findings, the increase of UTI excretion is attributed to stress reaction for changes of general status, such as, high fever and the advance of malignant tumor. In addition, the UTI excretion increases in the moderate renal insufficiently.
