Study under an impressed current of the principal electro physiologic properties of rapid skeletal muscle fiber semitendinous muscle fiber of the frog rana esculenta

Annales de l'Universite d'Abidjan Serie C Sciences 10: 93-117

Study of the membrane potential at rest shows this to be essentially linked to the value of the total K+ concentration. The resting potential evolves when the external K+ concentration is changed. It is also known from recent reports in the literature that Cl- play an important part at the level of membrane conductance at rest. The study under an impressed current reveals abnormal and retarded rectification, as well as the Creep phenomenon, which is perhaps linked to the momentary retention or accumulation of K+ at the level of the internal reticulum and especially at the space delimited by the transverse tubule system. The impressed current conditions also permitted registration of the action potential in various media. The action of these different substances has made it possible to analyze and interpret the various phases of action potential, especially phases 1 and 2 of repolarization, linked to the development of retarded permeabilities with a predominance of K.
